A person can be lonely even if he is loved by many people, because he is still not the ‘one and only’ to anyone.

You only really get to know people when you’ve had a jolly good row with them.

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature, and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of Nature.

That is something we must never forget; although others may show heroism in the war or against the Germans, our helpers display heroism in their cheerfulness and affection.

‘All children must look after their own upbringing.’ Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.

“For in its innermost depths youth is lonelier than old age.”

And whoever is happy will make others happy too.

Let the end come, even if it is hard, then at least we shall know whether we are finally going to win through or go under.

‘A quiet conscience makes one strong!’

“What one Christian does is his own responsibility, what one Jew does is thrown back at all Jews.”
